Instrument Flying

Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) allow a properly equipped aircraft to be flown by an instrument rated pilot thru or above clouds, or in fog, rain, dust and other low-level weather conditions.

Instrument training is a natural next step after a pilot becomes licensed to fly.

Club aircraft are all IFR certified.

Falcon Field - Mesa, AZ (KFFZ)

The Phoenix Area Flying Club is thrilled to call Falcon Field in Mesa, Arizona home.  The airport was established in 1941 as a military airport during World War II to train American and British Royal Air Force pilots.  In 1948, the federal government deeded the property to the City of Mesa as a municipal airport.

Falcon Field (FFZ) is home to more than 100 businesses providing more than 1,400 jobs and there are currently more than 800 aircraft based here, including fixed-wing, single-engine, multi-engine aircraft, turboprops, jets and helicopters.

The Club has a private and secure hangar, and multiple covered tie-downs at FFZ for our Members exclusive use.  And, we host social and training events on a monthly basis throughout the year, inviting Club Members, family, friends, other hangar owners and pilots to attend.

All are invited to visit our hangar facility, meet-up with a Club Member and fly with the PHX-AFC.

Chandler Municipal Airport - Chandler, AZ (KCHD)

The Phoenix Area Flying Club is excited to launch flight operations at Chandler Municipal Airport - coming in 2024.  The airport is just 18 miles southeast of Sky Harbor International Airport and offers trouble-free access to anywhere in the region.

With more than 200,000 operations this year CHD is among the nation’s busiest general aviation airports and the location is well-situated for easy travel to southwestern U.S. and beyond.

The Club has a private and secure hangar at CHD for our Members exclusive use, and we have options and access to additional tie-down space and a 2nd hangar.  We are working with airport management to approve the Club flying from Chandler Airport.

If you have ever considered cost-effective and care-free flying, you have come to the right place.  Thanks for stopping by, and we hope you make it a great day by taking to the skies with flying friends, like the PHX-AFC.
