Training
Pilot Proficiency
Our goal as a flying club is to make flying available, affordable and ensure safety by facilitating ongoing flight proficiency and training for all our members. Member certified flight instructors and pilots are available for:
- Safety Flights
- Checkouts / Flight Reviews
- Introductory Flights, and more.
Whether you are a pilot, rusty pilot, or want to increase pilot proficiency, local CFI's increase overall safe flying.
Instrument Training
You can fly in weather conditions and navigate using only instruments. Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) training is not required, but is the natural next step after you are licensed to fly.
An Instrument rated pilot has the ability to fly thru or above clouds, or in fog, rain, dust and other low-level (IMC) weather conditions.
The PHX-AFC's planes are IFR certified.
Safety Training
The Safety Officer of the PHX-AFC works with AOPA, EAA, FAA and local CFI's to facilitate safety seminars and webinars that Members and guests may attend (typically no fee). A few recent examples are:
- AOPA Rusty Pilot's Seminar
- FAA Safety Team Seminar
- PHX-AFC webinar: 'Weather Hazards'
See our Events Page for more safety session information.
The Best Planes in the World
The Phoenix Area Flying Club utilizes Cessna and Piper aircraft and has five (5) aircraft in the Phoenix area for the exclusive use of our membership.
Based at Falcon Field are a Pipistrel Alpha Trainer (LSA), a Cessna 172 Skyhawk, and a Piper Warrior, which are our favorite go-places planes - perfect for fun flying and cruising the neighborhood for a $125.00 hamburger, flight training and more.
Also based at Falcon Field is a Cessna 182 Skylane which is our favorite hauler and go further aircraft; and, a cross country, 6-seat Piper PA-32-301T Saratoga (300hp, turbo and fixed gear).
New members be advised, if you can dream it, we can acquire it - please voice your choice for our next airplane acquisition.
And, if you have a great airplane sitting and wish to put it to work - we pay above market rates for plane leases and take care of our planes with high standards and progressive maintenance.
